The Marble Faun, Nathaniel Hawthorne (1872)

An attractive 1872 Illustrated Library Edition of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Marble Faun; or, The Romance of Monte Beni. The title page identifies this as “Two Volumes in One,” published in Boston by James R. Osgood and Company, late Ticknor & Fields and Fields, Osgood & Co.

The book has been professionally rebacked, preserving the original boards and decorative elements. The text block is tight and solid, and the pages have aged remarkably well, showing relatively few signs of their true age. A handsome, readable copy of Hawthorne's important novel.
