Manly Palmer Hall: A Companion to The Secret Teachings of All Ages.d. (45th Edition)

On December 5, 1923, just 22 years old, the young Los Angeles lecturer Manly Palmer Hall embarked on a formative pilgrimage, boarding the S.S. Franconia to explore the world. The ambitious undertaking was conceived as a spiritual and intellectual expedition: Hall sought to experience firsthand the religious traditions, sacred philosophies, symbols, and cultural systems that had long fascinated him in books.

This journey served as the inspiration for Hall’s masterwork, The Secret Teachings of All Ages, an encyclopedic synthesis of mythology, mysticism, esoteric philosophy, comparative religion, and symbolic traditions from around the world. Hall firmly believed that an eternal philosophy underlay the world’s diverse religions and esoteric teachings: a hidden wisdom expressing humanity’s enduring quest for truth. The Secret Teachings established him as one of the twentieth century’s foremost interpreters of esoteric thought. Since its publication in 1928, this monumental encyclopedia has been regarded as a classic and remains one of the most comprehensive works on subjects ranging from Hermetic philosophy and tarot to ancient Egyptian mythology, sacred geometry, and the teachings of Pythagoras.

Created in close collaboration with the Philosophical Research Society, the archive of Manly P. Hall, this carefully abridged companion edition offers a new way to explore his esoteric work. Previously unpublished photographs from his travels around the world are complemented by the extraordinary illustrations of J. Augustus Knapp, along with additional works by Hall’s longtime creative collaborator Mihran Serailian. Together, these artists illuminate nearly 60 mythological and magical subjects, making this volume both a valuable introduction for new readers and an engaging visual companion for longtime enthusiasts.
