Vida: Los ratones, el gato y el alebrije

An original fable inspired by Mexican folk art, from Pura Belpré Award and Robert F. Sibert Award winner, author and illustrator Duncan Tonatiuh

The town of Mousetepec is a place full of life, color, music, and joy. But everything changes one night when the shadow of a cat appears. Parties are canceled and the market empties as the cat terrorizes the townspeople.

To save their city, two little mouse siblings—Vida and her brother, Máximo—devise a brave plan to scare off the cat after a bright and fantastic creature (an alebrije) appears to them in a dream.

Award-winning author and illustrator Duncan Tonatiuh presents an imaginative fable that encourages children to face the "shadows" in their lives with a spirit of courage and joy.

Includes two author's notes, a glossary, a pronunciation guide, and a bibliography
