The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain 1870 first edition - restored calf binding with gilt spine

First edition, later state Publisher’s Calf Binding – Illustrated

A handsome 1870 copy of The Innocents Abroad; or, The New Pilgrim’s Progress by Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) the scarce San Francisco imprint edition. This travel narrative, among Twain’s most popular works, humorously recounts his journey through Europe and the Holy Land, offering a satirical and vivid commentary on 19th-century tourism.

Bound in the publisher’s original calf leather, with black spine labels and gilt titling, this octavo volume features two frontispiece portraits and numerous illustrated plates. Expertly repaired in our in-house bindery, the book retains a clean and tight text block while maintaining its period charm.
